Do You Have Demons?

The Daily Post’s daily writing prompt for Aug. 23 was Opening Lines.

Here’s the idea:  What’s the first line of the last song you listened to (on the radio, on your music player, or anywhere else)?  Use it as the first sentence of your post.

See if you can guess what I was listening to…  (you can guess or you can sing my song along to the tune of spoiler alert!)

When the days are cold
And you’re getting old
Looking at your life
Wishing you’d been bold

Spent your life in fear
Wasted every year
Wondering what if
And now death is near

I wanna live it now
I wanna make my wow
There’s not much I can do
What do I have to prove

I wanna show myself
Not keep it on a shelf
I can do anything
I can do anything

When you see my eyes
You can feel my pain
I’m so locked up inside
I’m so locked up inside
Don’t ask me what
Don’t ask me why
I’m so locked up inside
I’m so locked up inside

What will they all say
Your eulogy day
That you tried your best
That you paved your way

That you overcome
That God’s will was done
That you were so brave
Fought your fears and won

She took her fears and faced
She won that tough race
Nothing she couldn’t do
She had herself to prove

I wanna show myself
Not keep it on a shelf
I can do anything
I can do anything

When you see my eyes
You can feel my pain
I’m so locked up inside
I’m so locked up inside
Don’t ask me what
Don’t ask me why
I’m so locked up inside
I’m so locked up inside

Don’t wait another day
Don’t let it get away
You need to face your fear
Get it out of here

You must believe in you
Let me tell you I do
Get out and do that thing
And make your own heart sing

When you see my eyes
You might feel my fear
But I will choose to fight
I’m gonna choose to shine
Don’t ask me what
Don’t ask me why
I’m gonna bring my light
I’m gonna choose to shine

What’ll Ya Have?

The Daily Post’s daily prompt for Aug. 22 was Pick Your Potion.

Here’s the idea:  Captain Picard was into Earl Grey tea; mention the Dude and we think:  White Russians.  What’s your signature beverage — and how did it achieve that status?

In the midst of a summery sweltering day

Formerly favorited is the chai tea frappe’

Caramel frappe’ with whip and drizzle is a fave

For a turtle frappe’ today, diet I would cave

Dark choc and hazlenut frappe’ with whip hits the spot

And with the last 3 please I’ll take an extra shot

I’m sure most frappe’s are perfect when days are hot

A great finish is with whip and drizzle on top

On those wintery days, hot tea can be a dream

Blueberry Pineapple Pop, honey (without cream)

Breve’, no sweetener, notes a delicious flavor

These are but a few of the drinks I most savor

Beverages with alcohol my faves are plenty

Moscato, Sweet Red, Tootsie Roll, Appletini

From days long past I loved (still do) – madori sour

After work gathered with friends during happy hour

Just one if had to choose my signature drink

The Barefoot Sweet Red would be my first choice I think

The fruitiness goes great paired with extra sharp cheese

Give them a try they are sure your palate to please

What’s your poison?

Wonder and Tragedy

The Daily Post has their prompt for the day as:  Tunnel Vision

You’ve been given the ability to build a magical tunnel that will quickly and secretly connect your home with the location of your choice — anywhere on Earth.  Where’s the other end of your tunnel?

Deep within the Carpathian Mountains

A little known cave in Romania

Hides secret passage to another realm

Shadowy caverns Transylvania

Conceals a portal between old new worlds

Whence Magdalena traveled just twice more

Carrying her seventh the chosen one

Thru a once long ago safe passage door

Tunnel to Old World pure magic once lived

Before wars started and one found the key

What once was a shred of peaceful free Earth

Now the veils are torn by evil and greed

Wondering what will become young Willa

For she knows nothing of her history

Time will tell as life and events unfold

What befalls her wonder and tragedy

The blade cuts deep my heart

Where unspoken words reach

Things that are left unsaid

The loss the pain the grief

Quickly evil words spew

Where words alone can breach

To never have claimed them

Would offer some relief

Dear Santa, Please Bring Snow

Dear Santa,
I hope you and the Mrs. are well.
All year my behavior’s been swell.
When you come in your sleigh
I’ll have cookies and hay
For you and the deer on Christmas Day

There’s not really a lot that I need
For only one thing I plead
If I may be so bold
To ask for some cold
From now until the year has grown old

If you could see fit to bring
Some snow from now till Spring
It would bring great joy
For each girl and boy
It would be better than any ole toy

Just wanted to let you know
I know you have to go
You have many toys to take
One final plea I’ll make
Please bring lots of snow

(No snow, yet, y’all) This was December, 2009. *sniff*

I’m not really a poet
Yes, I know it
I only had 5 minutes of time
Anywho, hope you like my rhyme

Haunting Stillness

The sun is slowly rising, casting its indirect light behind the clouds on this chilly morning.  Fog is caressing the fields, wrapping its arms and blankets around the trees, and you can hear the echoes of nothingness.  So still, you can hear the trees whispering.  Ghosts wander here.  I look for them, searching for movement in the fog to make their presence known.  A shadow perhaps.  A flowing of their gown in the mist.  Perfectly enchanted and inspired, letting my mind meander and drift and float through this haunted vision, I begin my walk beside these ghosts.  With each step, breaking the silence.  I do not get far.  Sitting beneath the strong fatherly branches, I breathe in the fresh cool stillness.

Hoping you have an inspired, and enchanting day!  Make it special.  Do something different, even if it’s just one small thing.  Step outside your comfort zone.  Take a photograph in public and don’t even have a care who might be watching.  You could inspire someone else to step outside their comfort zone.  Just do something different that is in your heart to do at that moment…as long as it is legal.  😉  Love ya!  *smooch*

As The Fog Rolls In

Eerie and dark
Where nightmares creep
Ghosts haunt
And the blind seek
As the fog rolls in

A whisper in the way
Rustling of the leaves
Old tired trees sway
The damp air breathes
As the fog rolls in

I could have kept going, but, I only have 5 minutes, and…

Ok, so I’m not much of a poet anymore.  However, I do love the view on these mornings over the fields, especially when the fog is caressing the hills.  It’s hauntingly romantic.  A little eerie and spooky, and very cool.  Halloween is coming.  Wouldn’t it be nice to have a foggy evening for trick or treating?  Muahaha.

Happy haunted dreams! 😉
